Think of a riser as the part of the stair that you kick as you walk up the stairs, where as the tread is what you step on. Stringers are the sides of the stairs that hold your steps together which can come in open, closed or open/closed one side configurations.
We do not recommend capping stairs as they come with many drawbacks. During the process of capping, it is possible to find structural deficiencies with the stair as well as gaps and cracks in stringers will have to be adressed in which the labour to cap a stair can add up quickly. Stairs that have been capped are also more prone to squeaks and can be harder to address. If you decide you still want to cap your stairs we are more than happy to provide you or your contractor with custom made stair parts to cap your stairs.
Pricing varies on many different factors such as type of wood, style of stair as well as size. Due to the many different variables we recommend you contacting us so that we can complete a site visit and discuss options as well as take precise measurements to ensure that the stairs will match your needs.
The time from design to installation varies on the project. Once we come and measure the job, we can give you an estimated time of how long it will take before you are enjoying your new set of stairs in your home!
